What about ongoing charges ?

Our business relies on recommendation. The last thing we want is to deliver a cheap site and then hit you with massive charges afterwards. Your monthly fee is your only ongoing commitment. This fee also entitles you to updates each calendar month to your site to keep it fresh. If you needed more this would be by negotiation. If at a later date you required more pages or substantial updates this would also be by negotiation. To give you an idea a new page, fully designed and integrated, would be about £40 - £50.

How long do I keep paying the monthly fee ?

For as long as you wish to keep the site ! If, say, after six months your business no longer requires the site then you stop paying and we take the site down ! Simple as that. We are confident, however, that the monthly fee will be a tiny price to keep your web presence.

Where's the catch ?

We promise you there isn't one ! You pay a fixed fee and we run your site for you. Our business is driven by recommendation and we are here to work for you ! See more about the contract.

What contract do I sign ?

One that doesn't mean you are going to be bound over to us for the rest of your days ! Our contract is very simple. After the initial site is built we ask you to pay  your monthly fee by standing order. This may have to go up in the future but is guaranteed for your first 12 months. Whilst you pay, we administer your site. There is NO MINIMUM time you have to keep the site - this is possible because we are confident you will want it for years ahead ! Other than some bits on availability and the amount of updates you can have there is no longwinded paperwork. For more information contact us.

OK - but are theses sites any good ?

We build "brochure websites". They look and fee like the site you see here. Rich in text and picture content they have two aims - to provide a "shop window" for your business and to get people to contact you. You can view some of our sites here.

What is a "brochure" website ?

Before the days of the internet (and even today !) companies would send out a nice glossy brochure in order to win business. Whether they were a hotel, a pub, a cleaning company or an architect that was the principal method of showing people what you did without them visiting you. Brochure websites do the same, but in an interactive and media rich way. They also cost considerably less. Instead of paying a fortune for a print run and then postage just direct people to your site instead !

What about search engines ?

Search Engine submission and optimisation falls into three categories depending on your sites needs; vital, very useful or largely irrelevant. For example, if you heavily promote your site through advertising and are using it as a brochure (for example hotels or businesses selling a lot of goods but not online) then search engine ranking may not be important - your customers will use your site as a tool and find you anyway. If however you are a new business relying on web contact to sell yourself a good search engine ranking is essential. It's important to make one thing clear. Pay As You Go Webs cannot guarantee Search Engine ranking. Anyone who does without asking you to pay for sponsorship is, in our opinion, being a little untruthful.  At the end of the day Google, Yahoo, Altavista etc. etc. are owned by someone else,  and  no one can pretend to influence the way they rank pages. Indeed, some websites get delisted if the engines detect that the results are being manipulated.

Search Engine optimisation depends a lot on your hosting account. Please see the payment options above for more information on this. It also depends on us designing the site right in the first place. Although we make no guarantee, as detailed above, most of our sites are ranked in the Google first page.  A feat we are rightly proud of! We will submit your site, free of charge, to all the major engines, including some you may never have  have never heard of but for technical reasons are good to submit to.

We have heard of  companies who will charge up to £400 just to do this, never mind build you a website!

How do I register a website name ?

Ideally don't ! As part of the package we will do this for you free of charge.

I have already registered a website name - help !

No problem. We may need to re-register it depending on what package you have bought. This will be done at cost.

What is hosting ?

In simple terms, it is the server where your site exists. We can run you through all the technical aspects and jargon if you wish, but the idea is we do the work so you don't have to ! Hosting is the part that a lot of other web design companies use to inflate their fees - Pay As You Go Webs don't do this. It can also make a large difference to your Search Engine submission process. Please e-mail us for for more information on hosting.

How long will it take ?

Your initial site will be up in under a week. Refinements and completion will depend on how quickly you can pass us the information that you want us to design into your site. Normally a "signed off" site will take 4-6 weeks but can be a lot quicker.

What increase in sales can I expect ?

We'd love to say you'll double in size overnight. You won't of course. Like traditional advertising there is no guarantee, and we would be fools to make one. However a low monthly fee will buy you more advertising than you could ever get for a similar payment to a newspaper or for a flyer. It will also provide your customers with the opportunity to look first - providing you the best possible sales opportunities. One of our customers, Spick & Span, reported twenty new quality leads in just one week after we built their site - more than covering our fees.

Where are you based ?

Bishopstoke, Eastleigh, Hampshire. However we have designed and written for people across the south of England.
